SHIBUMI GALLERY presents PAUSE, featuring our newest artist Lauren Ramirez alongside established SHIBUMI artist Mew Chiu.

Now more than ever, it's important to remind ourselves to pause for even the smallest moments of kindness, joy, or beauty that may come our way.  And choosing the community we wish to surround ourselves with is essential. Recently, I've observed that clients visiting SHIBUMI seem to have more intentionality in their interactions, actions seem more decisive, and conversations seem to linger on meaningful moments.

We invite you to visit the gallery for a moment of pause to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of both these artists. For those of you with special people in your lives, we would love to be a part of your gifting experience this Valentine's Day!

As we create space to slow down and appreciate the beauty and the people we surround ourselves with, we are pleased to introduce a new artist to SHIBUMI,

LAUREN RAMIREZ, whose work is steeped in tradition and craftsmanship. Working primarily in platinum and gold, her style evokes a vintage charm with a modern twist. Using beaded settings and engraved details, her designs could be mistaken for heirloom pieces from a Parisian studio of bygone days. This work is clearly the conception of an artist with a very steady hand and discerning eye.

Lauren studied in the Bay Area at The Revere Academy and now has her studio in the heart of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina.

This month we are also featuring long-standing SHIBUMI artist,

MEW CHIU whose approach to jewelry making comes from a background in painting, enameling and ceramics. A student of color theory and an admirer of painter Joseph Albers, her current collection features a spectrum of colored stones, both beloved and unusual. High-karat gold and mixed-metal settings highlight the unique imperfections – ancient inclusions and color striations – that have made gemstones so mesmerizing and coveted throughout the ages.

Mew's studio is based in New York City.

Both Lauren and Mew are committed to ethical practices, sourcing gemstones responsibly and using recycled metals in their creations.
