ARCHITECTONIC
featuring local jeweler Elisa Bongfeldt
April 05 - 28, 2025
SHIBUMI GALLERY is pleased to present ARCHITECTONIC, featuring the work of Elisa Bongfeldt.
Elisa’s creations blend the formal qualities of architecture with the elegance of modern design, making her a favorite among architects who visit SHIBUMI. Her geometric forms and repetitive patterns exude a sense of calm, with clean lines and structural simplicity that still bear the marks of meticulous handcrafting.
This new collection draws inspiration from the iconic shapes and ornament of the Art Deco movement. During her time as a bench jeweler at SHIBUMI in 2024, Elisa discovered a newfound appreciation for flush-setting stones — a technique she had previously avoided. Mastering this skill, she has imbued these new pieces with the subtle sparkle of diamonds.
Working in oxidized and brushed silver, Elisa incorporates 22k bi-metal, a material that combines a fused layer of gold with a backing of sterling silver, offering the rich beauty of gold at a fraction of the cost. These meticulously crafted pieces reflect the engineered precision of construction, suggestive of architectural form, yet maintain the delicate grace and scale of fine jewelry.
ELISA BONGFELDT is a graduate of California College of Arts & Crafts in Jewelry / Metal Arts. She has been designing and creating one-of-a-kind and production jewelry since 1994 from her Oakland studio. Her work, influenced by her passion for architecture and industrial design, offers a unique fusion of art, architecture, and jewelry craftsmanship.
