Meet Maral
Join us for a glass of wine!
Saturday, June 1st from 3:30 - 5:30 PM
SHIBUMI presents FLUID, featuring the work of ARIELLE DE PINTO and MARAL RAPP. While the terms "weft" and "warp" typically evoke fabric construction, we invite you to envision these words in the context of the unique jewelry crafted by these artists.
Maral and Arielle both employ metal fabric that mimics the fluidity and adaptability of textiles, moving in multiple directions with graceful articulation. Both artists handcraft their work in small studios or ateliers as well; think a gathering of women engaged in lively conversation while their hands naturally work away. This energy translates into these artists' contemporary aesthetic and individual vision, infused with a nostalgic allure and charm reminiscent of bygone eras.
MARAL RAPP's work is a testament to her passion for vintage treasures. By repurposing metal mesh from antique flapper purses, Rapp transforms these historical remnants into wearable works of art. Each piece reflects her meticulous craftsmanship, with reclaimed mesh delicately adorned with precious metals to create shimmering jewels that seamlessly blend the past with the present. Rich in history yet contemporary in style, Rapp's creations offer a fresh perspective on familiar materials, inviting wearers to experience the allure of golden ages of the past in a uniquely personal way.
Rapp is a local Bay Area artist and will be joining us for a Meet and Greet on Saturday, June 1st. We hope to see you there!
