SHIBUMI GALLERY is pleased to present new work by DARCY MIRO.
The Sound of Silver features new cuffs and rings; each one hand carved in wax, cast in silver or gold, then often disassembled and collaged back together with new parts. Darcy’s artful and bold creations are inspired by everything from the textures found in nature to historical costumes and ancient metal work. Whether wearing her cuffs or displaying them on a shelf, there is no doubt that her pieces are one of kind with a true vision.
With her unique aesthetic and technique, Darcy is the ideal artist to have open our new space. She perfectly represents Shibumi’s focus; small studios where jewelry artisans explore their craft, either solo or as a small team. Darcy epitomizes the essence of contemporary studio jewelry.
DARCY MIRO graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Jewelry and Metalsmithing, and has since gained over 15 years of experience in creating custom jewelry, sculpture, and architectural works. Darcy is inspired by nature, architectural form, and the body. Each of her pieces is meticulously crafted from sterling silver, 18 or 24 karat gold, or white bronze, with the occasional diamond softening the raw nature of her work. Darcy makes her strong, bold, organic wearable art in Brooklyn, New York.
